-High Radiation Adsorption Capability: At the same weights high density alloy can provide the same energy absorption as lead using 1/3 less material.
-High Impact Resistance and Crack Resistance: It is defined as the amount of energy per volume that a material can absorb before rupturing.

Tungsten Alloy Bar

Tungsten Alloy Extrusion Die Advantages

Hard steel wire is generally made by forcing solid metal through a hole, called a die, under such intense pressure that it is extruded like pasta.
However, can you imagine the incredible forces that must be acting on the holes? In some cases diamond or sapphire (nearly as hard) dies are used, but this one is made of a tungsten alloy, probably because of its high strength even at very high temperatures.
On account of its prosperities of high heat resistance, good hardness, excellent plasticity ability, tungsten heavy alloy (WHA) is quite suitable material for tolls such as extrusion dies, die casting components, etc., especially when it is employed in extrusion die of copper related alloy, the manufacture of aluminum, zinc and brass castings. Extrusion dies are made from a sintered material consisting of Mo and/or W containing 2-60% by volume of high melting point non-metallic components which are free from oxygen (except possibly in impurity amounts).

The density of tungsten alloy is about 18g/cm3, only gold, platinum, and a few other rare metals have a similar density. So it is denser than any other shot material, including lead, steel or bismuth. To understand how the density factors into performance, let’s look at two spheres about the same size, a golf ball and a ping-pong ball. The golf ball is far denser and will fly farther and hit harder. Now reduce that size down to two single No. 4 pellets, one steel and the other a tungsten alloy. Get the picture? The tungsten will fly farther, hit harder and penetrate deeper. That means more birds, farther out, with fewer cripples. Another unique property of tungsten is that it is non-toxic, it is friendly to the environment, so tungsten alloy hunting shot is safe for people to handle and work with.
